How much does a contract pool inspector make per inspection?

Accepted Answer

You keep 63 percent of every fee we collect, on every job you finish and we accept. Nothing is taken out. Client fees differ by state. As one example, if the collected fee for an inground pool inspection is 495, your business gets 311.85. Prices can change over time. Your 63 percent does not.

Is this a job or a contract?

Accepted Answer

It is not a job. It is a 1099 contract between Pool Inspector USA and your business. Your business must have its own entity with an EIN. Your business sends us invoices, and we pay them within 15 days. There are no quotas, no set hours, and no meetings. You can post zero open time and nothing bad happens. You are a vendor, not an employee.

Why do I only keep 63 percent?

The other 37 percent pays for all the work you would have to do for free otherwise: ads, search ranking, booking, scheduling, taking payment, the report platform, and client support. You never buy a lead. You never quote a homeowner. You never chase a payment. A booked job handed to you costs you nothing but the time to inspect it.

Why do I pay for my own certifications and insurance?

Because they are yours, not ours. Your CPO and CPI certifications and your insurance stay with your business forever, even if we never work together. We never hold them over you. At today's market prices, plan on about 325 to 450 for the CPO (renews every 5 years), 249 to 395 for the CPI (renews every 3 years), and 1,000 to 2,500 a year for errors and omissions plus general liability insurance. Those are estimates, so check current prices with the providers. At 311.85 per inground inspection, about 11 inspections cover the top of that whole range.

What is the calibration period?

Every report goes to the client with the Pool Inspector USA name on it. So at the start, we check each of your reports against our written standard before it goes out. When your reports pass that standard every time, calibration ends. After that we only spot check a few at random. We check the finished report, not how you inspect. Every finding in the report is your own call as the professional.

Question 6

Can I sell repairs or my own services to clients I inspect?

Accepted Answer

No. We only inspect. We never repair. Our reports have nothing to sell, and that is the reason buyers hire us. So you cannot offer repair, maintenance, or service work to clients you meet through us. That is the only limit. There is no non-compete. Away from our clients, you are free to inspect, repair, or service pools for anyone, even our competitors, during our work together and after it ends.

Question 7

How much do I have to work?

Accepted Answer

As much or as little as you want. You post your own open times and clients book right into them. There is no quota, no minimum, and no penalty for posting nothing. If something comes up, you can let go of a booked job with 48 hours notice. The only cost is that you are not paid for a job you did not do.

Question 8

When and how do I get paid?

Accepted Answer

When we accept your report, an invoice is made in your business name for 63 percent of the collected fee. Invoices are paid within 15 days. Nothing is taken out of your share. Card fees and every other cost of running the company are ours.

Question 9

Can I do virtual inspection work too?

Accepted Answer

Not yet. Contract work today is on-site inspection only. Virtual review is an unlock for proven performers: if it opens to contractors, the top priority tier gets first access. It would come as a written add-on to the same agreement, and you could say yes or no with no penalty. We do not promise when it opens, or that it will bring any set amount of work or pay.

What is the LearnMyPool affiliate program?

LearnMyPool.com is our pool education brand. As one of our inspectors, you can join its affiliate program if you want to. When a client you inspected signs up for LearnMyPool, you earn the commission the program offers at that time. It is extra money on top of your inspection pay. It is optional, and it is never a condition of working with us.
